Free Parent First Aid Courses in Chelmsford

Free Parent First Aid Courses in Chelmsford

In August 2013 our first child was born prematurely at 33 weeks. It was a scary start to parent hood but the support and guidance we received from the neonatal team at Basildon Hospital was immense and we felt indebted to them following our discharge at 35 weeks. We  wanted to give something back to the department and when we saw an advert asking for local businesses to donate money to enable the hospital to fund a trial for some infa-red technology that allowed staff to cannulate infants at the first time of asking it was something we wanted to be part of.

Rather than simply donate a one off some, we decided that we could combine owning a First Aid training company with passing vital life saving skills to new and existing parents and approached the hospital to apply to become fund raisers. We were accepted and in September 2016 launched our free parent First Aid sessions. We asked for voluntary donations which are passed to the NICU department at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals Charitable Trust.

We try and hold sessions on a monthly basis however our diary of courses dictates that sometimes we simply can not schedule a session in.

On our sessions we cover CPR and Choking for both infants and children, AED (defib), meningitis, febrile convulsions, and burns followed by a Q&A on any other topics people may be interested in.

The sessions are not exclusively for parents, grand parents, aunts and uncles are also welcome to attend. To find out more about our Free Parent First Aid sessions visit our facebook page here and subscribe to our events where you will receive a notification as and when dates are launched.
